Pasir Panjang is a 3 km long beach that is among the best beaches in Kei Kecil:

Personally, I prefer the beach at Ohoidertutu but Pasir Panjang is a close second.  This beach has hotel accommodation and food available. On Sundays some parts of the beach can be very busy:

On Sundays many people will ask to take a photograph with you. This is the closest most people will ever get to being a rock star. The beach is 2.5 kilometers long so there are always quiet spots as well.  Every year there are new businesses built and it is sometimes quite shocking to see the changes from year to year.  For now however, it is still quiet on weekdays with almost no tourists.

A great dish to try here is ‘rujak’, which is a mixed fruit and vegetable salad with a bit of hot pepper covered in a sweet peanut sauce:

If you are staying elsewhere on Kei and want to visit Pasir Panjang, one idea is to get dropped off by ojek (or bemo) at the South end of the beach in Ngur Bloat village. It is then possible to walk the entire length (2.5 km) of Pasir Panjang until you arrive at Coaster Cottages at the North end of the beach in Ohoililir. You can stop for a drink or a snack at Coaster (or other cafes and stalls) and arrange for an ojek to take you back to your accommodation. ‘Cafe 10’ at the south end of Pasir Panjang has a nice view and good food.
